Mayon Volcano in northern Philippines erupts

The Philippines' Mayon Volcano erupted in Albay province, prompting authorities to raise the local area's Volcano Alert Level from 2 to 3 on a five-tiered scale.

Axar.az reports, citing Xinhua, that a moderately explosive eruption occurred at Mayon Volcano at 11:53 AM today, sending a dense, rapidly ascending and billowing ash plume 3,000 meters above the summit crater. The plume was dispersed to the west-southwest by moderate winds and ashfall is expected to fall in the communities of Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan and adjacent municipalities of Albay.
