UNHCR to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has expressed UNHCR`s interest in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan as he met with the country`s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations Vagif Sadikhov.

The meeting focused on current state of relations between Azerbaijan and UNHCR, and cooperation prospects.

On behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan Vagif Sadikhov thanked Mr Grandi for help and support in resolving the humanitarian problems of refugees and internally displaced persons - victims of military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan.

Sadikhov also briefed Grandi on the state of talks to solve the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the April escalation on the line of contact.

Grandi emphasized that UNHCR monitors the humanitarian situation in the conflict zone.
