Ukraine's FM: Russia is not ready for serious negotiations

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said that Russia will not agree to serious peace negotiations as long as it believes it can achieve its goals by putting pressure on Ukraine.

Axar.az reports, citing local media, that the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made the announcement.

"As long as Russia believes it can achieve the goals of its invasion – goals it has been unable to achieve on the battlefield – by putting pressure on Ukraine to force it to capitulate, it will not be ready for serious negotiations," he said.

Sybiha added that maintaining and increasing pressure on Russia remain critically important to ending the war.

"Peace through strength is the only strategy that works. But that strength must be directed against the aggressor, not against the country defending itself. This war cannot be ended by stopping Ukraine's resistance. It can only be ended by stopping the aggressor's attacks," Sybiha noted.
