There is no reason to lift sanctions against Russia, and more progress is needed in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Axar.az reports this was stated by the new chairman of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany Armin Laschet.

According to him, there are still secret and open acts of aggression on the part of the Russians in eastern Ukraine:

"The sanctions are mainly related to the illegal annexation of Crimea and the conflict in eastern Ukraine. As for the Minsk agreements, I would like to see more progress. In that sense, it is possible there is no reason to lift the sanctions. "
