The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, asked the head of state Salome Zurabishvili for a pardon.

Axar.az reports that he spoke about this at the court session.

Saakashvili said that he should be out of Georgia for a while.

"Of course, Mrs. Zurabishvili can return her father to the children with one signature and, most importantly, restore the political balance in Georgia."

It should be noted that M. Saakashvili left Georgia in 2013, after which 4 criminal cases were opened against him in the country, in two of which the politician was sentenced to 3 and 6 years in absentia. In October 2021, Saakashvili secretly came to Georgia but was detained. In May 2022, due to his deteriorating health, he was taken to the private clinic "Vivamed" in Tbilisi, where he remains until today.
