The Russian army launched an attack on Chasov Yar in early April to capture the city and cut it off from key supply lines for the Ukrainian military. The Russians hoped that capturing the city would not take much time and effort, but the Ukrainian military is daily pushing the enemy army as far away from Chasov Yar as possible.

"Capturing a city that was once inhabited by 12,000 people and almost dead should not have been too difficult for the outnumbered and better equipped Russian army. However, 10 weeks after the attack, Russian attacks stopped. The counter-attacks of the Ukrainian army in the south of the city in recent days drove the Russians who were trying to besiege Chasov Yar from one of the southern bases, Klesheyevka," the information said.

Narsh said that the city is defended by several Ukrainian brigades, in particular, the 41st and 67th mechanized, 56th motorized rifle, 5th air assault, as well as the 241st territorial defense brigades:

"The successful work of these troops did not justify the hopes of the Russians regarding Chasov Yar. The city will finally be out of the hands of the Russian troops."

The article stated that during the Russian attack on the city in April, the Ukrainian army had a serious shortage of ammunition and an air defense problem:

"Two months ago, the Ukrainian garrison in Chasov Yar was so weak against missiles that Russian Su-25 planes could fly within just a few kilometers of the city to bomb them. Due to such problems in the Ukrainian army, the Russians succeeded in the first attack. In the first few weeks of the fighting, the Russian 1st Army Corps and adjacent units advanced a few kilometers north and south of Chasov Yar, occupying Klesheyevka and Ivanovskoye. But soon the situation changed significantly, as US ammunition began to arrive in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russians also made a mistake. "Instead of strengthening their forces in the east, they launched an attack on the north of Ukraine on May 10 and were trapped there."
