Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not support Ursula von der Leyen's candidacy for the post of the head of the European Commission at the Union summit where candidates for high positions in the EU were selected.

Axar.az informs that "Telex" reported on this with reference to diplomatic sources in Brussels.

"He supported the candidacy of the former Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa for the position of the Chairman of the European Council, and abstained from the vote regarding the candidacy of the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaya Kallas for the position of the head of EU diplomacy," the information says.

It should be noted that Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, Kaya Kallas, the Prime Minister of Estonia, instead of Joseph Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for foreign relations and security policy, Antonio Costa, the former Prime Minister of Portugal, were approved for the post of the head of the European Council (in place of Charles Michel). The appointment will be voted on in the European Parliament.
