To strike Kyiv, Russia must launch these missiles either from Belarus or Bryansk region.

Axar.az reports that Ukrainian military analyst Pavel Narozhny explained the reason behind Russia's use of S-400 missiles to target Kyiv in an interview with the "Kiyev24" TV channel.

He stated that this is not the first time Russia has used S-400 missile systems to strike Kyiv. They also employed these missiles in 2023.

The military expert also explained why the Russians do not frequently use this missile to attack Kyiv.

"Firstly, the range is not very long. They can only strike Kyiv with these missiles from Belarus or the Bryansk region. Secondly, the accuracy is not very high. This missile was designed to hit aircraft or missiles. When it targets ground-based objectives, it flies on a ballistic trajectory without adjustment, and the accuracy is very low. Therefore, hitting any intended target is very difficult," Narozhny explained.

The expert believes that such attacks may have two main purposes - a terrorist act against civilians or an attempt to disable Ukraine's air defense system.

"The enemy has plenty of these S-300 and S-400 missiles. And for each such missile, we have to spend one 'Patriot' missile to intercept it," Narozhny added.

It should be noted that, according to "Defense Express," Russia used the 48N6DM surface-to-air missile from the S-400 system in a "surface-to-surface" mode during the strike on Kyiv on September 2.
