In 2024, an average of about 11,000 Syrians have been recorded as returning from Turkiye each month, this number was about 300-350 people per day: “The figure has increased by 1.5-2 times. The daily crossing capacity at our border crossing points was around 3,000. However, since the number of crossings could increase, we have raised the crossing limit at the checkpoints to 15,000-20,000.

Axar.az reports that Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerliqaya told journalists.

A. Yerliqaya also emphasized that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon announce the opening of the Yayladagı border crossing point.

The Minister added that since 2016, 737,000 Syrians have safely returned to their homeland:

"Currently, the number of Syrians under temporary protection in Turkiye is 2 million 936 thousand."

It is worth noting that the opposition in Syria seized the capital Damascus and declared the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Since then, the return of Syrian refugees in Turkiye to their homeland has accelerated.
