Ankara did not participate in the operation of the armed opposition that led to the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's administration in Syria.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Turkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

He noted that Turkiye was not a part of such a process:

"After the start of the operation, we made intensive efforts to ensure that it was carried out in the most bloodless, trouble-free way, but we had not previously teamed up with any country or group, did not participate in such planning," the foreign minister said.
