Bashar al-Assad sent two tons of money to Russia

The Central Bank of Syria, under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad, sent several planes filled with millions of dollars and euros in cash to Moscow between 2018-2019.

Axar.az informs that The Financial Times reported this based on classified documents.

The report states that at that time, Syria faced a severe foreign currency shortage. Despite this, the Assad government sent 2 tons of banknotes in $100 and €500 denominations to Moscow.

In total, the amount of money sent was $250 million.
