Ronaldo and Cardinale plan to buy shares in Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is part of a five-member consortium preparing a bid to acquire a controlling stake in Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Axar.az reports that, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the consortium includes Ronaldo, RedBird Capital Partners founder Gerry Cardinale, and Saudi businessmen Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib, Mohammed Al-Khuraiji and Sharaf Al-Hariri.

Each investor is prepared to contribute around $100 million, bringing the proposed investment to at least $500 million.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) currently controls a 75% stake in Al Nassr, which it acquired in 2023.

Representatives of the consortium are expected to meet PIF officials within the next 48 hours to discuss the potential deal. No formal offer or agreement has been publicly confirmed.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in 2023 and signed a new contract in 2026 that runs until at least June 2027. The reported deal would potentially give the 41-year-old Portuguese star an ownership role at the club beyond his playing career.
