Tehran gave many recommendations to Bashar al-Assad, but he refused to listen.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to him, Tehran has never interfered in the Syrian government's communication with its people and opposition:

"We warned Assad about the opposition's moves in Idlib, but the Syrian government made independent decisions. There was no communication with Assad regarding his departure from Syria. Iran has been in the country solely at the request of the Syrian government to fight terrorists," he said.
