Russian President Vladimir Putin and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico discussed bilateral relations and energy issues during talks held at the Kremlin.

Axar.az reports that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov provided this information.

"Yesterday, Putin held talks with Fico. They also talked about energy issues, gas issues, and the conversation was quite substantive," Peskov stated.

When asked whether Russia could continue supplying gas to Slovakia after the expiration of its transit agreement with Ukraine, Peskov responded:

"The situation here is very difficult, requiring greater attention. You heard what the Ukrainian side has said and you know the position of European states, which are continuing to buy Russian gas and believe this is necessary for the normal functioning of their economy."

It should be noted that Ukraine announced it would completely halt the transit of Russian gas starting January 1, 2025.
