The U.S. State Department has urged Americans to leave Belarus.

Axar.az reports that this information was published on the U.S. State Department's website.

It is noted that U.S. citizens should avoid traveling to Belarus, and those already in the country should leave immediately.

The reasons listed include Belarus' support for military operations in Ukraine, the risk of arrest, potential civil unrest, and the embassy's limited ability to assist U.S. citizens:

"U.S. citizens should regularly reevaluate possible departure plans in the event of an emergency. Border crossings with neighboring states are sometimes closed with little notice. Additional closures of crossing points along Belarus’ borders with Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine are possible."

It is also mentioned that the U.S. Embassy in Minsk suspended operations on February 28, 2022. Embassy staff were evacuated under the order of the State Department, and services, including emergency assistance, were halted.
