US President Joe Biden's administration is discussing possibly imposing new sanctions against Russia's energy sector.

Axar.az reports that the "Washington Post" has published information about these sources.

It was reported that the United States may impose sanctions on the so-called "shadow fleet" ships carrying Russian oil and on Russian oil exporters that were not previously subject to sanctions.

"This step will give the newly elected President Donald Trump's future administration more leverage at the negotiating table with Russian President Vladimir Putin," the report said.
