On Friday, Ukraine received its first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, marking a significant step toward reducing reliance on Russian energy.

Axar.az, citing Kyiv Post, reports that the delivery, arranged by DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, consisted of approximately 100 million cubic meters of gas transported via pipeline after being regasified at a terminal in Greece.

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko emphasized that such shipments diminish Russia’s influence over regional energy systems and provide flexible, secure power supplies.

EU leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen, have supported diversifying gas supplies to reduce dependence on Russian energy.

Simultaneously, former U.S. President Donald Trump has pressured European nations to purchase more American gas, threatening tariffs if they fail to address trade deficits.
