Tensions are rising between Donald Trump and Elon Musk despite Musk’s significant political donations and influence.
Axar.az, citing the Economic Times, reports that Musk, who has been frequently present at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, is reportedly causing friction within Trump’s inner circle. Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, has limited Musk’s access, denying him an office in the West Wing and relegating his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to a separate building.
Trump’s recent social media post jokingly suggested Musk should rescue stranded astronauts, which some interpreted as a subtle jab. Musk has also criticized Trump’s $500 billion AI project, Stargate, due to his feud with OpenAI’s CEO.
Internationally, Musk’s political donations to parties like Reform UK and endorsements of Germany’s AfD have drawn criticism.
Public opinion is shifting, with over half of Americans viewing Musk unfavorably. Despite his wealth and influence, Musk’s role in Trump’s world remains unstable, with Trump showing signs of impatience toward his presence.
