The USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier left the Red Sea and docked in Souda Bay this week for a working port visit.
Axar.az report that, citing Al Arabia, this comes after two months of combat operations in the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operation, mainly countering Houthi attacks from Yemen.
“I’m incredibly proud of the dedication and service of this team and their tireless work around the clock,” Dave Snowden, commanding officer of the Truman, said. “Their efforts keep our ship operating at peak performance and aircraft ready to support combat operations.”
The Truman entered the CENTCOM AOR on Dec. 14 to support the US campaign to deter the Iran-backed Houthis, who started attacking military and commercial vessels since the Gaza war started in 2023.
Last week, the US military and the Somalian government carried out airstrikes against ISIS-Somalia.
