Today, Russia’s defenders are completing what was left unfinished during the Great Patriotic War: destroying the enemy.

Axar.az reports that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova made this statement in a video message to Russians on the occasion of the country’s Army Day (February 23), as reported by TASS.

"I would like to congratulate everyone on Defender of the Fatherland Day. This year is special for several reasons. Of course, it marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. As we can see, victory was achieved back then, but the enemy was not completely destroyed. Now, those on the front lines are finishing what had to be done historically. These are the same enemies and the same threats that have persisted since those times," she emphasized.

Zakharova also noted that at the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin, 2025 has been declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.
