The UK government is launching new tough measures to prevent abuse of the migration system.

Axar.az reports that beauty salons, car washes, construction sites, and restaurants will be the main targets in this context.

Under the new rules, business owners who employ illegal migrants could face a fine of 60,000 pounds sterling for each employee. In addition, company directors could be suspended or even sentenced to up to five years in prison.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said that turning a blind eye to illegal work helps ruthless networks involved in human trafficking: “They promise people jobs and a good life by bringing them to Britain in crowded and dangerous boats. We must put an end to these lies,” the minister said.

The new measures are expected to be presented to the public in the coming weeks.
