Former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili stated that she remains the only legitimately elected president of Georgia and proposed creating a platform of resistance against the current Georgian authorities.
Axar.az reports citing Interfax, speaking on Monday in Tbilisi at another rally demanding new parliamentary elections, she mentioned that this platform would unite "all opposition pro-European forces."
The number of participants has increased compared to previous actions, which have been held daily since November 28 of last year. This rise is linked to Zurabishvili's call for all opposition-minded citizens to gather in front of Parliament on March 31, the 34th anniversary of Georgia's independence referendum, to show the authorities "the will and strength of the people".
"Unfortunately, today we still have to fight for our independence and freedom. The protests are on their 124th day, and just like 34 years ago, we are demanding the recognition of the people's choice and Europe's future," Zurabishvili said.
She stated that since the elections last October, no democratic state in the world has recognized the legitimacy of the "de facto authorities," which is the result of the ongoing protest.
"The main achievement is that the civil protest against the repressive regime has not been broken. The struggle continues, and it will be peaceful and long-lasting until the regime falls, and this will certainly happen," Zurabishvili added.
