During my time as the Minister of Internal Affairs, I had repeatedly warned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality President Ekrem Imamoglu about corruption and illegal tenders.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Turkiye's former Interior Minister and Member of Parliament, Süleyman Soylu.
"For almost 5-6 years, I warned Imamoglu and sent inspectors. I told him that you are gathering people who should not be in municipalities, collecting staff from PKK and FETÖ. They did not listen to us. In addition, we uncovered corruption facts and tender mistakes. But they are used to the laws of the higher-ups," Soylu emphasized.
It is worth noting that, as part of the corruption investigation involving the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, a detention order was issued for Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on March 23.
