AFAD releases initial analysis of Istanbul earthquake

The initial technical analysis of the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul, has been released by members of AFAD's Earthquake Science Council.

Axar.az reports that this information was shared by the Turkish media.

It was stated that the 6.2-magnitude earthquake did not have high acceleration values:

“Initial analyses show that a fault line approximately 15 km long and 9.5 km wide ruptured. The right-lateral displacement on the fault is around 30 cm.”

It was also noted that over 10,000 calls have been made to the “Call Center” so far:

“Of these, 296 were made by citizens concerning buildings.”
