Public defiance against Hamas is rising in Gaza as the group's control weakens. Despite the risks of speaking out—ranging from imprisonment to torture and death—many Gazans are openly blaming Hamas for their suffering amid the ongoing war with Israel.

Axar.az, citing BBC, reports that protests, once rare due to Hamas' violent suppression of dissent, have emerged across the Gaza Strip.

Protesters chant slogans like “All of Hamas, out!” and “Hamas is garbage.” Critics such as Moumen al-Natour argue that Hamas has dragged Gaza into endless conflict without offering real freedom.

One protester, 22-year-old Oday al-Rubai, was abducted and killed after criticizing Hamas, in what human rights organizations called an extrajudicial killing. Others, like activist Amin Abed, have survived brutal beatings and now live in exile.

Civilians in places like Beit Lahiya have even resisted Hamas militants attempting to use homes for rocket launches. In some cases, communities have physically driven out fighters.

Though speaking out remains dangerous—another protester was shot dead in Gaza City—the protests are the most significant internal opposition Hamas has faced in nearly 20 years of rule. While not yet a rebellion, this growing movement signals a shift in public sentiment as Gazans lose faith in Hamas’ leadership amid unrelenting war and hardship.
