Spain and Portugal have nearly fully restored power after a massive, unexplained blackout late Monday that disrupted transport, communications, and daily life across the Iberian Peninsula.
Axar.az, citing ABC news, reports that the outage shut down airports, trains, ATMs, and mobile networks, forcing thousands to seek shelter in stations and sports centers.
While power returned to 99% of Spain by early Tuesday and all Portuguese substations were online, life remained partially disrupted with lingering transport delays and internet issues.
Authorities are investigating the cause, with no current evidence of a cyberattack or sabotage. The blackout affected around 60 million people and is being described as one of Europe’s worst power failures in recent history.
