Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te will, for the first time, formally commemorate the end of World War Two in Europe, emphasizing the importance of defeating aggression.

Axar.az, citing an exclusive article from Reuters, reports that the event, to be held in Taipei ahead of Russia's military parade in Moscow, aims to reclaim the historical narrative from China, which insists the Communist forces were the main victors in the war.

Lai is expected to draw parallels between past and present threats to democracy, including China's current military and political pressure on Taiwan. China has criticized the move, accusing Taiwan of distorting history.
