A group of 71 House Democrats is calling for an investigation into President Donald Trump’s executive order that targets content in federally funded museums, warning it could violate federal law and compromise historical integrity.

Axar.az, citing JP, reports that in a letter led by Representatives Ayanna Pressley and Paul Tonko and shared with Reuters, lawmakers urged the Smithsonian Institution’s inspector general to review Executive Order 14253. Issued in March, the order directs museums to remove exhibits, sculptures, and narratives deemed “divisive” or promoting “race-centered ideology.”

Democrats argue the directive interferes with the Smithsonian’s mission to portray American history and culture accurately and independently.
