A protest took place outside the Georgian Embassy in Yerevan, organized by Armenian producers and exporters of alcoholic beverages.
Axar.az reports according to Armenian media, the demonstrators voiced frustration over what they described as obstructive measures by the Georgian authorities, who are reportedly requiring laboratory testing of Armenian goods on Georgian territory before allowing shipments to Russia.
As a result, trucks carrying the goods have been stuck at the Armenian-Georgian border for weeks, causing what protesters say are multimillion-dollar losses—not only for producers and exporters, but also for transport companies. They are calling on the Georgian embassy to provide clarification and an official response to the issue.
During the demonstration, an embassy staff member requested a list of affected companies and noted several names.
Nevertheless, the protesters proceeded to block access to the embassy in both directions. They held Armenian and Georgian flags, along with signs reading “Hands off Armenian producers.”
One of the demonstrators said that they have yet to receive a clear response from the relevant Armenian authorities either—only being told that “the issue is being looked into.”
The Armenian Ministry of Economy stated that intensive efforts are underway to resolve the situation.
