The Aviation Energy Forum (AEF) of the International Air Transport Association (IATА) has started in Baku with the support of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), operating under the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON Holding). This major international event, hosted by Azerbaijan, is being held from May 13 to 15, 2025.

Axar.az reports according to Azerbaijan Airlines’ press service, the Aviation Energy Forum (AEF) is being held for the first time in the Caucasus and Caspian Sea region. It is considered a key industry event for the global aviation fuel community.

The forum serves as a unique platform for airline representatives, fuel and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) suppliers, and other strategic partners of IATA to discuss the energy challenges facing modern aviation and to strengthen global cooperation in the field.

It also provides an opportunity to build partnerships aimed at achieving net-zero CO2 emissions in aviation by 2050.

At the opening ceremony, President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, Samir Rzayev, emphasized the importance of hosting the Aviation Energy Forum (AEF), one of the most prestigious events in the global aviation fuel industry:

“Hosting this important forum in Baku reflects our country’s growing strategic role in the global aviation sector and the energy transition. It also confirms Azerbaijan’s active participation in shaping the sustainable aviation agenda. The path to sustainable aviation and the Net Zero target requires the synergy of innovative energy solutions — solutions that are only possible through knowledge sharing and strong partnerships. We are proud and pleased that our country is once again serving as a vital platform for global cooperation. AZAL, for its part, remains committed to supporting the decarbonization of the aviation industry and will continue to develop its own sustainability agenda.”

The forum has brought together representatives from over 60 countries and more than 70 airlines, with nearly 800 registered participants in total.

From May 13 to 15, the AEF will feature a series of panel discussions, as well as sessions on technical and commercial topics.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to meet sponsors in the exhibition area, explore innovative approaches, and establish new partnerships.

It’s worth noting that the Aviation Energy Forum (AEF), the leading industry event for the global aviation fuel community, is open exclusively to invited IАTA members and IАTA’s strategic partners in the fuel sector.
