Last year, three Azerbaijani citizens were arrested in Cyprus and Guatemala on charges of human trafficking. Among those readmitted to the country, one person was identified as a victim of human trafficking in Greece.
Axar.az reports this information was included in the 2024 annual report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking, which was discussed today at a joint meeting of the Human Rights Committee and the Committee for Law Policy and State Building of the Milli Majlis.
It was noted that, as a result of information exchange with relevant state bodies of foreign countries, three Azerbaijani citizens were found to have been arrested by law enforcement agencies in the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Guatemala on human trafficking charges. In addition, one person among those readmitted to Azerbaijan was identified as a victim of human trafficking in the Republic of Greece.
