The path to a just and lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia lies through the negotiation process.
Axar.az reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this at a press conference in Antalya to announce the results of a two-day informal meeting of NATO member states' foreign ministers.
According to him, the decision to resume the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue is the result of the will of the conflicting parties and the steps taken by the United States.
“In my opinion, the process should continue. Both sides support the idea of a ceasefire in principle, but differ in their positions. If achieving peace remains the goal, the parties can take certain steps and make certain concessions to form a common peace agenda. We have stated from the beginning that we are ready to contribute as much as we can. We hope for a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine. I think there is enough reason for hope,” the head of Turkish diplomacy emphasized.
Hakan Fidan noted that at the current stage, the mediators face serious tasks.
