The US administration hopes for the resumption of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul next week.

Axar.az reports that White House press secretary Karolina Leavitt said this at a briefing.

"We hope that Russia and Ukraine will begin direct talks in Istanbul next week. We believe that this meeting will take place. This is a meeting that the president (US President Donald Trump) encouraged and called on these two sides to meet and have direct talks," she noted.

It should be noted that the next Istanbul meeting between representatives of Russia and Ukraine will be on June 2.
