In Russia, security agencies are removing those they blame for failures on the front under the guise of “fighting corruption.”
Axar.az informs that the New York Times newspaper reported on this.
According to the information, criminal cases have already been opened against high-ranking officials in three of the five border regions on charges of corruption:
“Officials are accused of embezzling funds allocated for border protection. High-ranking officials in these regions have been arrested and accused by prosecutors of embezzling money allocated from Moscow to strengthen the border. These criminal cases are the result of Ukraine’s successful border offensives.”
It is emphasized that the Kremlin is also gradually making changes in the military leadership. These changes are also being carried out not directly due to military failures, but in the name of corruption charges. The article notes that since last year, after the dismissal of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the country has been undergoing a process of “cleansing” of generals and heads of the Defense Ministry in connection with corruption cases.
