The forces that previously sought to divide Iran are now trying to do so through the Zangezur corridor.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Iran's religious leader Ali Khamenei.

"The US and international Zionism are concerned about Iran's strategic cultural depth and have always tried to undermine the foundations of this identity and harm our national security," he added.

Speaking at the memorial service for Sheikh Safiaddin Ardabili, the advisor called Azerbaijanis Iran's guardians:

"Azerbaijanis would resist the Ottoman and Russian occupiers, and in the case of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Azerbaijanis prevented the division of Iran by thwarting the plans of the colonialists and their henchmen."

It should be noted that Velayati is constantly making statements against the Zangezur corridor.
