“Art Villa” gallery hosted an open-air painting event “Under the open sky-10".

An exhibition entitled “Karabakh” featured a theme of patriotism bringing together both young and experienced artists.

The exhibition was organized by the Arts Council Azerbaijan with the support of Azerbaijan State Art Gallery, Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Youth Network.

Nagorno-Karabakh is one of the most interesting, ancient and beautiful regions of Azerbaijan. The region is rich in its history, culture monuments, literature, music and art in general. At all times, the beautiful nature, climate, abundance of natural resources have inspired all sorts of creative minds.

Musical world of the region is distinguished with its antiquity and uniqueness.

The art of Azerbaijani Ashiqs combines poetry, storytelling, dance and vocal and instrumental music into a traditional performance art that is a symbol of Azerbaijani culture. Characterized by the accompaniment of the saz, a stringed musical instrument, the classical repertoire includes 200 songs, 150 literary-musical compositions known as dastans, nearly 2,000 poems in different traditional poetic forms and numerous stories.

Ashig Valeh was real master in his field. “Karabakh shikestesi”, “Kesme shikeste”, “Bash Saritel” and “Orta Saritel” are products of his creativity.

Works of Ashig Mahammad (1834-1914), Ashig Aziz (1825-1918), Ashig Huseyn (1800-1880), Ashig Ali (1807-1917), Ashig Alasgar (1821-1926), Molla Juma (1855-1919) and others influenced positively development of Karabakh ashig art.

Carpet-weaving was historically a traditional profession for the female population of Karabakh. Karabakh carpets are distinguished for their colourfulness and unique ornaments.

Colorful Karabakh carpets, which are classified in four groups, represent a fabulous symphony of the most delicate shades of the amazing Karabakh nature.

The architectural and historical monuments of Karabakh includes Gulu Musa oglu Tomb, monastery in the Kelbajar district, 15 spans (XII century) and 11 spans (XIII century) bridges over the River Araz as well as Azykh and Taglar Caves, the most ancient human habitats in the world.

The area which is rich in vegetation more than 2,000 types of plants grow. In low-lying areas wormwood, semi-desert covered with wormwood - salinegrass, in foothills lichens, gray covered with wormwood, and semi-gray plants, bushes on the slopes of mountains, broad-leaved forests (beech,oak,etc.) extend widely. There exist subalpine and alpine plains.
