Ukraine has suddenly postponed both the acceptance of the bodies of fallen soldiers and the exchange of prisoners of war for an indefinite period.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Vladimir Medinsky, aide to the President of Russia.

He stated that on June 6, the Russian side began a humanitarian operation in full accordance with the Istanbul agreements to hand over the bodies of more than 6,000 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and to initiate the exchange of wounded, severely ill, and prisoners of war under the age of 25:

“The first batch of 1,212 frozen bodies of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers has already been delivered in refrigerated containers to the exchange point. The remaining bodies are en route. In addition, a list of 640 prisoners of war falling under the categories of ‘wounded, severely ill, and young’ has been submitted to the Ukrainian side so that the exchange process can begin. The Russian Ministry of Defense’s coordination group is already at the Ukrainian border.”

He added that Russia calls on Ukraine to retrieve the remains of the 6,000 soldiers so that their families can bury them with dignity.
