On June 7, a phone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy Eid al-Adha and conveyed his wishes for progress and prosperity to the country.
In turn, President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the President and the people of Pakistan on the holy Eid al-Adha, wishing the Pakistani people happiness, development, and well-being.
Both the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan fondly recalled the recent bilateral and Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Pakistan trilateral meetings held in Lachin and noted with satisfaction that these discussions further contributed to the development of relations between the two countries.
During the phone conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in economic, trade, energy, industry, military, science, education, tourism, and other fields.
The importance of the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit to be held this summer in Azerbaijan’s city of Khankendi was highlighted, and hopes were expressed that the event would contribute to the strengthening of relations among the member states.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the conversation.
