Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Elin Suleymanov, responded to baseless allegations against Baku by individuals lobbying for Ruben Vardanyan during an interview with “GB News,” a British television channel with a large viewership.

Axar.az reports that the ambassador stated that Ruben Vardanyan is accused of promoting separatism, committing war crimes, financing terrorism, forming illegal armed groups, threatening Azerbaijani officials with terrorism, and other crimes.

He also noted that the International Court of Justice and the UN Human Rights Council’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention have rejected Armenia’s claims regarding Vardanyan’s case.

The ambassador emphasized that attempts to frame Vardanyan’s case in religious terms are unfounded, and that he has been granted access to the prison library.
