5.1 magnitude quake hits Kyrgyzstan

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 struck Kyrgyzstan early this morning, the tremor felt as far as Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Axar.az informs the quake occurred at 6:33 a.m. Baku time, 71 kilometers from the city of Naryn in Kyrgyzstan's Naryn region. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers.

No casualties or structural damage have been reported.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations also confirmed the event, stating that their seismic stations recorded the tremor at 8:33 a.m. Astana time (7:33 a.m. Baku time). The quake's epicenter was identified 279 kilometers southwest of Almaty, in Kyrgyzstan, at a depth of 11 kilometers.

The tremor was reportedly felt in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city.
