India’s defense exports soar 30-fold in a decade

India's defense exports have increased more than 30 times in the last 10 years. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the conflict between Israel and Hamas, has further fueled this growth, as several countries are considering expanding their arsenals.

"India's growing defense industry currently supplies more than 90 countries worldwide, and the government is actively promoting simpler licensing systems. While Myanmar has traditionally been the main destination for India's defense exports, countries like Israel and Armenia have also emerged as significant buyers in recent years. Israel imports certain targeting systems, firearms produced by a subsidiary here, some ammunition, and drone parts. Although India has signed several major individual deals, such as a contract with the Philippines for 'BrahMos' and with Armenia for artillery and air defense systems, its largest importer of defense goods is the United States, accounting for approximately 50% of India's total defense exports," the report states.
