To protect your immunity, it is recommended to avoid alcohol during autumn.
Axar.az reports that general practitioner and occupational pathologist Svetlana Burnatskaya stated that alcohol suppresses immunity in the fall.
“Alcohol reduces the activity of T-lymphocytes, which are responsible for fighting viruses. Moreover, it worsens sleep quality, during which the body actively combats infections.
Alcohol also stimulates inflammation, increasing the risk of complications from virus exposure. Even small doses, especially if consumed regularly or combined with insufficient sleep, stress, or cold exposure, can weaken the immune response.
To stay warm in autumn without harming your health, herbal teas with cinnamon, ginger, cloves, or cardamom, spiced warm apple drinks, or warm milk with honey are good options. Staying sober and maintaining a proper sleep schedule are important, but it’s also crucial to monitor your diet to ensure your body gets enough vitamins,” Burnatskaya noted.
