Chikungunya fever, a new infection, has begun to spread rapidly in China.

Axar.az reports that the number of cases of infection in Guangdong Province, South China, especially in the city of Foshan, has approached 1,200 people.

The mild course of the disease and the absence of deaths are considered a welcome development.

Experts say that chikungunya fever is mainly spread by the bites of Aedes mosquitoes. The virus manifests itself with high fever, joint pain, and skin rashes. Symptoms are similar to dengue fever and can cause physical weakness in infected individuals.

Although infections are currently local, the risk of rapid spread is worrying the world community.
