Fifteen terrorists have been detained as part of special operations in Istanbul and Turkey’s Kocaeli province.

Axar.az reports citing Turkish media.

Six of them are militants of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, and nine are militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Operations were carried out at ten previously established addresses.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.

Fourteen IS members were also detained in Ankara on March 18.

On Nov. 5, 2018, a major operation was carried out against members of the "Islamic State" in 11 provinces of Turkey. Some 24 people, who were engaged in raising funds for terrorists in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Libya, were arrested.

Also, cash money of more than $500,000 and more than two million Turkish liras was confiscated during the operation.
