Ilham Aliyev's visit to Moscow once again proved that more and more positive trends are emerging in Russian-Azerbaijani relations. We can say that today the relations are experiencing a new stage: the Karabakh problem, which has always been in the shadows, has finally been resolved.

Axar.az reports that this was said by Alexey Fenenko, an expert of the Russian International Relations Council.

"For Moscow and Baku, this negative is essentially a big problem. Its solution will allow us to spend more time on bilateral relations and really important joint projects - including at the regional and global level. Today, Moscow and Baku are really very important partners for each other. The leaders of the two countries declared that the North-South project was implemented in the Kremlin. This is a really important project for Russia, both practically and from an image point of view. It has important prospects for Azerbaijan as well, because the country shows itself as an important transport hub, a crossing point between East and West. In addition, Aliyev recently made a very important statement that the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Karabakh only strengthened relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. By withdrawing its peacekeepers from Karabakh, Russia is now allowing Azerbaijan and Armenia to directly resolve the issue of border delimitation themselves," he said.

According to Fenenko, no matter how hard the interested forces try to set Moscow and Baku against each other, this is impossible:

"Therefore, their attention has shifted to the Russian-Armenian relations. Here, the execution of the fight plan is quite successful. This is a new map that the West has been using for a long time. This once again confirms that Azerbaijan is a transparent, reliable partner for Russia today. We move forward together. Aliyev said the other day that Azerbaijan does not supply weapons to Ukraine and cannot do so in principle. This once again proves that Aliyev is a principled person and that relations with Russia are important for him. Today, only Azerbaijan is Russia's only stable partner in the South Caucasus."
