46 FETO-linked ex-policemen arrested

Turkish security forces on Monday arrested dozens of ex-police officers for their alleged links to FETO, the group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey. reports citing Anadolu News Agency.

Police sources said that 46 former police officers were arrested in a nationwide operation.

Ankara prosecutors previously issued arrest warrants against 64 terror suspects belonging to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

Police are on the lookout for the rest.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Turkey accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration in Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
