Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The letter as follows:

"I was deeply saddened by the news of the death of children as a result of the storm on Lake Syamozero in northern Russia's Karelia region.

On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest condolences to you, families and relatives of those who died and the whole people of Russia".
