Ahead of International Women's Day which is one of the main holidays celebrated in Russia, RIA Novosti has compiled for you a selection of photos showing incredible Russian ladies who decided to pursue a high-powered and challenging career in the military.

Completing their respective courses and graduating from aviation, space and military schools in Russia, the women were taught to apply and master incredibly difficult but outstanding skills, overcome challenges and insurmountable obstacles so they can carry out jobs which were previously only considered suitable for men.
