14th-century map showing "Azerbaijan" name -

Historian Zaur Aliyev has published a map confirming the presence of the name "Azerbaijan" in a 14th-century document.

Axar.az reports that he noted this on his social media account.

The scholar stated that the map was prepared by Muhammad al-Idrisi for King Roger II of Sicily:

"This map was translated into Latin in 1619, and in 1928, Konrad Miller translated it into English, and it is still kept in the Library of Congress today. The original has been preserved in France since 1325 and is currently located in the National Library of France.

The map clearly shows the territories of both South and North Azerbaijan. This map serves as another response to those who claim that 'Stalin created the name Azerbaijan."
