Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has explained why he has repeatedly expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Axar.az informs, citing Armenian media, speaking to journalists after a government meeting, Pashinyan said he considers his reaction entirely logical and an appropriate response.
“I have noticed that there is a tendency to overcomplicate the perception of events. For example, why is this microphone blue and that one red, why not yellow or black, and then geopolitical conclusions are drawn based on that,” Pashinyan said.
According to the Prime Minister, “when an event occurs that is directly related to Armenia, the country must express its position on it.” And if that position is positive, it should be stated openly.
Pashinyan recalled several concrete steps taken recently: the lifting of restrictions on wheat imports, first for Kazakhstan and then for Russia, as well as the absence of restrictions on railway transportation from Armenia.
“In addition, Azerbaijan expressed its willingness to sell petroleum products. A wagon of petroleum products has arrived, and the goods have appeared on the market,” he noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that he considers it appropriate to publicly express his stance on such events and deliberately does so on different platforms to ensure Armenia’s position is clearly recorded.
“This is also important for the Eurasian Economic Union, as we have effectively established railway connectivity with the EAEU,” the Prime Minister concluded.
He also expressed hope that in the future, Armenia will also be able to export goods to Azerbaijan.
